When I was in High School to the beginning of college I didn’t know who I was. I was always trying to be something that I wasn’t. I remember I once woke up early every day, two hours before class or work, to get dolled up before I left home. I had to have my face made up, the perfect outfit, and the perfect heels to go with it. I was obsessed with my looks to the point that people thought of me as someone that wasn’t me. I’ve always been a very laid back person. I like to be comfortable but I also care about my appearance. However, at that time, I didn’t quite have a grip on who I was. I thought I had to be this perfect material girl so that people would like and respect me. I was wrong.
Don’t ever measure yourself by your looks. They hardly mean anything when it comes to your personality. Anyone who really judges you by the way you look just happens to be a very shallow person. If you happen to be one of those shallow, judgmental people, take a look in the mirror because you have a great deal of insecurity!
Ok, of course it is an excellent idea to be clean, smell good, and look good. Just don’t take it too far! Those expensive heels don’t make you. That overpriced shirt that you’ll only wear a couple of times doesn’t make you either. It just makes you more broke. So go find yourself some clothes that you can actually afford and work on your attitude instead. Work on being a person that you feel good about. Smile at people. Not everyone will smile back but you just may improve a moment in someone’s life. People won’t just look at you to envy you. They will start to value you by your personality and really appreciate what you have to offer.
